Meet the Staff

Dr. Amanda Rentschler

Often times in dentistry we are asked what drew us to the field. No, I don't have a father or aunt or distant third cousin who is a dentist. For me, the interest came from my then five-year-old nephew. He was born with a significant congenital defect and lost several front baby teeth early as a result. While he took his temporarily toothless grin in stride, I know his confidence was affected from time to time. And that's all it took: a precious gummy smile from the sweetest boy I've ever met and my interest in dentistry was piqued. Now having experienced so many more facets of what oral health care is all about, I am so grateful to have found myself in a profession where I can help to recreate confidence where it may be lost, and ultimately aid in preventing various oral health conditions in the first place. One of the best parts about my job is that no two patients are alike. The diversity among us and each person's unique presentation is what makes this career so fun and exciting!

Education and Experience

I grew up on a pear orchard in Yakima, Washington. After helping my dad plant new trees, fix sprinklers, playing a lot of basketball, and graduating high school, I went to Central Washington University where I received a bachelor's degree in Biology. I went on to Oregon Health and Science University to earn my dental degree immediately thereafter. The next adventure life had in store for me was Missouri. I practiced there for two years, but always felt a pull to come back to Washington where the evergreen trees and mountains were home. Before settling in Skagit County, I practiced in Olympia where I met many great people and will miss so many wonderful patients.

Outside the Office

My husband, John, and I live with our four-year-old daughter, Linkyn, in Burlington. While we are new to the area, this will be our forever home and we are eager to become regular parts of the community. So far we are enjoying exploring the outdoors like Deception Pass, teaching Link (and learning a little oursleves) about the agriculture, and meeting new people. I look forward to finding familiar faces at our local grocery stores and restaurants. And speaking of restaurants, if you have a favorite, please let us know; we love to eat!

Dr. Todd T. Cooley

I believe that my profession of dentistry must adhere to the highest ethical and moral standards. I pride myself on recommending treatment I would only do to myself. I treat my patients and team like family! I love to get to know them and their interests and enjoy exceeding expectations in the care we provide and facilities and equipment we utilize. Being a dentist has made me a better person.

Education and Experience

I am a second-generation dentist, the son of Dr. Dennis G. Cooley. I graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1990, and attended the University of Puget Sound, from which I graduated in 1994 with a BA in business administration. I graduated from Indiana School of Dentistry with my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2004.

Since graduating, I have kept up on the latest techniques and materials in dentistry, because it is a field that is constantly changing. I feel it is important to know what works, what lasts, and what improves patient care.

Outside the Office

I am a proud resident of Mount Vernon, having spent my entire life here, with the exception of my schooling. It is important to me to give back to the community which has given me so much, and I do so through Rotary, church, and coaching youth soccer and baseball.

My wife Laurie and I have four children: Kyle, Jessica, Alexa, and Lacey. When I’m not in the office, I enjoy playing golf, spending time with my family, and shuttling my kids to and from their many activities.

Kristina, Dental Assistant

Kristina attended Bellingham Technical College, where she received her dental assisting degree in 2009. Her goal for each one of her patients is for them to have a positive and comfortable dental experience. She and her husband have a female German Shepherd named Remi, who has stolen their hearts and takes up most of their free time.

Hailey, Dental Assistant

Hailey graduated from Bellingham Technical College in 2003 and has worked in the Skagit Valley as a dental assistant ever since. The best part of the job, if you ask her, are the patients! Learning about each person makes the job fun!

Hailey lives with her husband, two kids, and two dogs in a home they built in Stanwood. They enjoy camping year round and getting together with their family and friends in the area as often as possible.

Shelli, Dental Assistant

Working as a dental assistant for the past 15 years, Shelli has experience in all aspects of dentistry. Seeing patients build confidence while improving their smiles and overall dental health has been the most rewarding part of her career.

She and her husband have two young children and two kitties named Thelma and Louise. Living out in the country, they are always playing outside and enjoying the company of friends and family.

Jenny, Dental Assistant

Jenny joins us from Bellingham Technical College where she graduated with honors with a degree in Dental Assisting.

Since she was a child, she has always loved going to the dentist and enjoys that she can now pass on her great experiences to others. Her favorite part about working in the dental field is building relationships with patients and seeing them leave with fantastic results!

Skagit County has always been home for Jenny, and she currently lives in Mount Vernon with her boyfriend and their three fur babies. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, traveling, being active outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.

Jessica, Dental Hygienist

Jessica earned her dental hygiene degree at Seattle Central College in 2013. Her experience in the dental field began in the US Navy, as a dental assistant. She enjoys the detail-oriented nature of dentistry, but working with people and building trusting relationships with her patients is the most rewarding part!

Jessica lives in Bellingham, where she spends her free time with friends and family. She enjoys being near the water, playing softball, and going on local hikes.

Lori, Dental Hygienist

Lori graduated from PIMA Medical Institute in 2016 as a dental hygienist. Prior to that, she has been in the dental field since 2009, starting as a dental assistant while obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree then working as a dental office manager before she left for hygiene school. Dentistry has always been an interest of hers as she believes a warm smile is the universal language for kindness and that’s what she desires to help all her patients feel confident with and achieve.

As an active member and current Vice President of the WA State Dental Hygiene Association, Lori loves staying involved to help promote and educate oral health & wellness, spending a lot of her time volunteering at local free dental days. She also spends a lot of time with continuing education including interest in forensic dentistry.

In her spare time, she loves to paint and do anything adventurous with her fiancé and their boxer dog, Audrey – including yoga, hiking & camping outdoors, rock climbing, running and biking (also competing), and of course, traveling.
